The truth is that true crime stories aren’t intended for binge-watching only. “Tiger Girl and the Candy Kid” is an e-book by veteran writer Glenn Stout about Jazz Age villains Margaret Whittemore and Richard Whittemore, the “original gangster couple” of the book’s title. Stout’s work was one of the New York Times’ picks as the top novel crime books to read in the summer of 2021. “Stout has done more than simply chronicle the couple’s crimes,” Tina Jordan wrote for the Times. “He has tried to understand what motivated the Whittemore’s.”

A classic experience of reading on the beach requires the classic beach book — or two. The first selection from this collection is Kevin Kwan’s huge 2013 smash, “Crazy Rich Asians”. If you’re reading this novel for the hundredth time or are reading it in the first place (after watching the movie on the hundredth occasion), you’ll be pulled by the excitement of the love story between Rachel Chu and Nick Young.

Valley of the Dolls

Here is my second choice for a classic beach book. Jacqueline Susann’s passionate and incredibly written “Valley of the Dolls” was published in 1966. It is set in post-World War WWII New York City; it’s an account of three women who have huge dreams and often huge drug addictions. In a piece written by Nancy Bachrach in an interview with NPR, “‘Valley of the Dolls’ is a zipper-ripper that has been called trashy, tawdry, glitzy, lusty, sordid and seamy -and that’s just the beginning of its appeal.”

How to build relationships using emotional vulnerability

Many people find it intuitive to try to avoid painful or negative emotions. This is our human nature. We want to avoid hurt feelings and things that cause pain. While this can sometimes be beneficial, it is important to recognize and express your feelings. It would help if you also were vulnerable emotionally with yourself and those around you. My insecurity has led me to push them away in past relationships. Fear of someone leaving became a self-fulfilling prophecy. Over time, however, I learned to accept my feelings and vulnerability. I was eventually able to let them out. Emotional vulnerability People often think of emotional vulnerability as something scary or bad. But it doesn’t have to be. What’s emotional vulnerability? It is the ability to recognize and possibly express one’s emotions. Particularly difficult or painful emotions. Feelings like shame, sadness, and anxiety, as well as insecurity. It is important to remember that acknowledging does NOT mean becoming fixated ...

The Vision Code Summary

“I do have goals, too, and I think about them ALL the time!” And that is exactly what my problem was. I was thinking about my goals, a good thing, but even while working towards them, I was so consumed with it that I would think about them and get anxious. How can my own goals, something dear to my heart, hold me back? Whenever I think of something but can’t think of what it was I was thinking of, I can’t stop thinking until I think I’m thinking of it again. I think I think too much.  ― Criss Jami, Killosophy Here’s the problem with thinking — there is no structure to it. It’s wild. You visit places, you witness euphoria, it has no strong sense of clarity, and it starts scaring you or intimidating you, then you feel threatened. Cause thinking has no bounds. That’s what I struggled with for so long that it started creating pullback in my life, and I recognized the need to change. This led me to start reading about vision proactively. I know a friend who is an author. I knew I h...

In Cold Blood Summary in Under 10 Minutes

In Cold Blood Summary in Under 10 Minutes   Who should read "In Cold Blood"? And why? If you enjoy real crime novels like John Grisham's ‘The Innocent Man’, Michelle McNamara's ‘I'll Be Gone in the Dark’, and Bryan Stevenson's ‘Just Mercy’, then In Cold Blood is the next book to add to your list of books to read.   It's not just the first significant true crime novel, but it is, according to many reports, the most influential one regarding style and influence. The Plot Widely considered the best non-fiction novel ever written--and so highly regarded that it is sometimes incorrectly assumed to be the original one (though it is certainly the first major non-fiction novel, it has a few predecessors) --Truman Capote's  In Cold Blood  is a book that defies categorization and transcends genres.   The novel was first published in the year 1966. it retells the murders of the quadruple in 1959 committed by Richard "Dick" Hickock and Perry S...

The Nauseating Truth About Is Vulnerability a Choice?

The Nauseating Truth About Is Vulnerability a Choice? Vulnerability is the state or quality of being at risk of being hurt or attacked, either emotionally or physically. Consider the possible consequences. Why would anyone choose to be vulnerable when there are so many? Who would want to be subject to an emotional or physical attack. It seems very strange to be vulnerable at the biological level. We are more likely to get hurt if we are vulnerable. A predator can physically cause us to be maimed or even killed. Fear of rejection can be caused by emotional attacks. Avoiding vulnerability is a smart move, since most people don’t want their genes to be lost. To increase your chances for a long and healthy life, be tough. Do not allow anyone to hurt you. Humans want more than survival. Our quality of life is also important. We want our lives long. We also want our lives to be long. Good relationships are a key part of living a happy life. Social creatures are more likely to liv...

Have you ever felt out of your zone as well? “We survive on too little sleep, wolf down fast foods on the run, fuel up with coffee and cool down with alcohol and sleeping pills. Faced with relentless demands at work, we become short-tempered and easily distracted. We return home from long days at work feeling exhausted and often experience our families not as a source of joy and renewal, but as one more demand in an already overburdened life.” ― Jim Loehr I mean sitting all day long in the same chair, with not so ideal thoughts roaming around my head, I used to start getting distracted.
